    Check out these open houses this weekend and you’ll be home in time to watch the big game!  There are many benefits to attending an open house.  First, buyers have an opportunity to realistically see what they can afford in the housing market as you drive through the neighborhood.  Second, you will be able to ask your real estate related questions to a licensed realtor.  Third, you will learn more about your needs with regard to amenities once you actually preview homes.  For instance, after visiting several single family homes, you may decide you actually prefer a townhome, where maintenance such as lawn-care and snow removal is included.  Now that I’ve convinced you to attend a few open houses this weekend, here are some tips on etiquette.  You may be asked to remove your shoes or wear shoe guards, which should be provided by the agent.  Be sure to follow the “sign-in” instructions and introduce yourself to the realtor.  If other perspective buyers are present, respect their privacy and give them some space.  Here is a list of Open Houses scheduled for this weekend 2/1-2/2…have fun!  Be sure to check this blog again for updates on future open house schedules.

    The Elegance of Mediterranean Style Homes

    Mediterranean style homes were very popular in the 1920’s.  Do you think they’ll make a comeback in 2020?  Inspired by seaside resorts, the classical Mediterranean style home features a stucco exterior, arched thresholds, stone fireplace and beamed ceilings all under the traditional terra cotta roof.  Spanish, Greek and Italian architecture come together to create a stunning open floor plan complete with columns, wrought iron accents and intricately designed tile.  A variety of dark stained wood grace the floors and granite/marble can be seen in the kitchens and baths.  The gardens and courtyard serve as an extension of the home with outdoor entertaining areas including a kitchen, flowering plants, fruit-bearing trees and a strategically placed fountain.  Seems like a luxurious Mediterranean Villa, doesn’t it?  You can see a beautiful display of these elegantly designed homes along the Jersey Shore, specifically in Deal, Allenhurst, Asbury Park and other neighboring towns.  Price point is usually over a million dollars as the Mediterranean style boasts spacious square footage and is located near the coast.  However, many others can experience the European style living if the design were available in homes within the $300,000 to $500,000 price range.  With an abundance of colonial, bi-level and split level style homes, perhaps the next wave of home architecture will be inspired by the classic Mediterranean.
